Editing

  • I will dive deep into your manuscript, line-by-line, to give your reader the best experience. This combination edit includes editing for flow, word choice, grammar, spelling, syntax, and punctuation. I use The Chicago Manual of Style and the Merriam-Webster Dictionary for reference.

    $350-500 for 50,000 words, depending on the level of editing needed.

Proof
Reading

  • Proofreading is a last minute pass to ensure your manuscript doesn’t have typos, simple grammar issues, misspellings, punctuation problems, etc. This is not a replacement for a line/copy edit. The manuscript should be thoroughly developmental, line and copy edited before this round of editing—whether professionally or self edited.

    I use The Chicago Manual of Style and the Merriam-Webster Dictionary for reference.

    Proofreading focuses on:

    • Simple grammar

    • Spelling

    • Typos

    While proofreading is typically done on a formatted manuscript, I proofread as the final step before formatting. I do not proofread on formatted manuscripts, nor do I check for formatting errors.

Developmental Editing

    A manuscript evaluation looks at big-picture items such as:

    • Crafting compelling characters with clear motivations, arcs, and flaws.

    • Ensuring your story has a sound structure.

    • Walking the reader through the story at the perfect pace

    • While falling those pesky plot holes.

    • Ensuring your world-building makes sense while avoiding cluttered info dumping.

    My manuscript evaluation also comes with a brief marketing report including comp titles, trope list, hunger levels of the market, and 2-3 marketing hooks.

    Includes two passes.

  • Certificate of completion: Developmental Fiction Editing I with the EFA.

  • .01/ word AKA:

    $500 for 50,000 words

    • A 5+ page manuscript evaluation, including marketing report.
